Enterprise Remote Access Service (ERAS) is the FBI’s classified mobile solution that leverages commercial networks to provide FBI personnel with access to Secret data anywhere and at any time. Emerging Tech’s onsite personnel provided security engineering, security operations, and portfolio management support for three different iterations over 5 years, ERAS 1.0, ERAS 2.0, and ERAS 3.0.
What the Work Delivered
- Achieved multiple authority to operates (ATOs), conducted monthly scanning, patching, & security assessments, and implemented daily monitoring of critical security and engineering functions.
- Led the development and integration of end-to-end architectures to overlay all 100+ components/nodes.
- Created, matured, and maintained over 3000 pages of various security, engineering, and operational documentation.
How We Delivered It
Roles and Responsibilities
Defined, and assisted with the implementation of roles and responsibilities for all ERAS stakeholders.
Technical Oversight
Assisted Technical Government Lead in overseeing execution of the coverall project across all engineering, security, and other O&M activities.
Provisioning and Training
Developed and matured provisioning, deprovisioning, and end user training documentation.
Account Management
Established, activated, modified, reviewed, disabled, and removed information system accounts in accordance with FBI Policy Guide.
Datacenter Failover
Assisted with the security configuration of the primary and secondary datacenter to provide failover and Continuity of Operations Plan (COOP) capabilities.
Patch Management
Ensured that the latest security-critical software patches and updates (such as Information Assurance Vulnerability Alerts (IAVAs)) were applied to each product across Preproduction, East, and West environments.
Architecture
Designed, development, and updated complex ERAS architectures including hardware, software, network and enterprise services components leveraging DoD Architecture Framework (DoDAF).
RMF Documentation
Authored all Risk Management Framework (RMF) documentation, engineer documentation, and artifacts needed for the quarterly Agile Release Train (ART), and multiple senior leadership/external facing presentations.
